James Patterson is a world-renowned author, best known for his mystery and thriller novels. He was born in Newburgh, New York on March 22nd, 1947 to Charles and Isabelle Patterson.

Growing up with a love for books and storytelling, James was an avid reader from an early age. He attended Manhattan College in the Bronx before transferring to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

After graduating from university with a degree in English Literature, he worked as an advertising executive for J. Walter Thompson Company until 1996 when he retired from advertising to become a full-time author. Patterson’s career as an author began with the publication of his first novel The Thomas Berryman Number in 1976 which earned him the Edgar Award for Best First Novel by an American Author.
